This is an inclusive not-for-profit group of local volunteers working together to improve the sense of connection and community spirit for Katoomba locals.
Our goals will be realistic and achievable, and include:
- Increasing the aesthetic value and utility of our streetscapes by improving private and public infrastructure, commissioning public art, and increasing/maintaining public gardens and public seating areas …
- Activating public and commercial spaces by running pop-up shops and other ventures, and organising family-friendly gigs, cultural activities, workshops, etc.
- Collaborating with other community organisations, local businesses, local creatives, etc by proactively engaging / partnering with them in our endeavours, offering to work with them in their endeavours, and helping them to publicise their endeavours, as long as they align with our mission statement.
- Remaining apolitical while working constructively with all three levels of government (especially with Blue Mountains City Council (BMCC)).
- Maximising community members’ ability to drive the group’s actions by regularly engaging with the community in multiple ways (social media, local print media, local radio, email, public meetings, etc).
- Making the most of members' interests and abilities by co-ordinating ‘working groups’ dedicated to specific types of actions.
- Identifying needs within the community that are not being met by the public or private sectors, and doing our best to fill those needs or encouraging others to do so.
- Being as open and transparent with members and the wider community as possible.
- Operating at all times within the rules of our Constitution and the Associations Incorporation Act.
